RACE REPORT: Central States Challenge From Gateway International Raceway

July 4, 2010 by Shane Walters

(St. Louis, MO) The second event of the season for the Superkarts! USA Central States Challenge took competitors from across the Midwest to the arch city – St. Louis – and the Gateway International Raceway for round three of the series. Contested over two days, racers competed on a temporary circuit inside the facility that incorporated the oval, road course and other paved areas. Drivers were given plenty of track time Saturday to get accustom to the long and challenging course before qualifying took place at the end of the day. Two heat races and the main event on Sunday decided the winners for the event.

Evan Walters was one of the winners to leave Gateway as he made his first series start and scored the feature victory in S2 Semi-Pro Stock Moto. The event began with Derek Crockett as the driver to beat following qualifying with a 52.275-lap time. Walters was second in the order with point leader Lukas Johnson third. Crockett however would be unable to compete in the races following an engine failure Sunday morning during warm-ups. Johnson took advantage as he would go on to win both heat races. In the final, Johnson and Walters went back and forth for the lead. Lap traffic would come into play and Walters took advantage. Taking the lead, he would hold on to the checkered flag to score the victory over Johnson and Kyle Gnau.

WaltersMotorsports.com Full Rebuild Before Stars of Karting Event

May 28, 2008 by Walters Web Design

(St. Louis, MO) It has been almost a year since Walters Motorsports has come to the track in full force with both drivers on hand. However, after a few days of testing and uncountable shop hours invested, both Shane and Evan Walters are ready to take to the track again. To add to the big news for the team just a few days before the big event at New Castle Motorsports Park the team has released the brand new team website www.WaltersMotorsports.com.

The new website is a huge improvement from the previous website top to bottom. While the site still isn’t completely finished we were still able to implement many of the large improvements we wanted to in the very short time frame we had to work with. As always over the new few weeks the new website will be tuned and improved so we have no set the bar just yet.

RACE REPORT: ICC Shifter Rookie Evan Walters Has Great Run At WKA Manufactures Cup Event

Shane Walters Photography - SKUS Supernationals Karting - Las Vegas - Evan Walters (187)

October 5, 2007 by Shane Walters

(St. Louis, MO) It was Walters Motorsports second event ever for running a shifter. The last time was with an 80cc shifter at a small track in St. Louis. Now the team took on the heavy challenge of driving an ICC with absolutely no testing at one of the biggest national races of the year. It was the WKA Manufactures Cup race in New Castle, IN against some of the toughest competitors in the country.

Evan was forced to travel to the track on Friday with no help, the rest of the crew had other things they needed to take care of in St. Louis. Vogel Racing hauled the kart to the track for us and let Evan pit under their tent. This meant 15 year old Evan was forced to learn an entirely new machine all on his own, as Vogel Racing had a lot of business to take care of running 4 karts that weekend within 2 drivers. By the end of the day Evan had worked a lot of the bugs out of his driving and would be just about ready to do some racing.
